Kapoor Bawali

To the north side of historical Gadhmandir hills we find two topographical features. One is back water of Khindsi lake and the other dense forest area. The place is desert, mysterious but it is a beautiful natural location. The valley is the natural habitat of variety of rare birds. Here is a perennial basin named ‘Kapur Bawli’.the area is also known for variety of reptiles including cobras, vipers and python. Mythological it was the dwelling place of mighty demon ‘Karpurasur’ .The place also witnesses the antique temple of goddess ‘Jagdamba’ who is believed to stay with her maids known as ‘Saat aasra’ .The temple is in ruined condition but still it shows the marks of ancient age.It is a purely stone structure constructed without any type of cementing material neither clay nor lime. Its wonder stone sculpture which is standing without any kind of ruler’s patron. At a short distance of Kapur Bawli there is a ‘Markendeshwar’ lake.It is said that there was beautiful idol of ‘Markendeshwar’ but after a span of time those who are either broken or stolen.Thats why it rather difficult to talk about sages authentically.Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj frequently visited this place.
